Why Indigenous Awareness Training

  • Gives your organization the understanding and knowledge, to have a positive relationship with the Indigenous people.

  • Become more effective with Indigenous governments and businesses.

  • Assist the organization to make better decisions when you are more informed about the Indigenous communities your company's projects may impact.

  • Expect more sales revenue from companies who report higher levels of workplace diversity.

  • Learn to effectively interact, consult and communicate with Indigenous people and their communities.

What is Indigenous Awareness Training

The overall objective of Indigenous awareness training is to dispel the myths and misconceptions about Indigenous people. It helps create an awareness of historical factors that have contributed to the current situation Indigenous people are in. Once and understanding has been achieved, companies have the knowledge to develop trusting and respectful relationships.

The Indigenous Awareness training that Jason provided to myself and my team was simply fantastic! An engaging speaker with a great deal of knowledge and passion, we all learned so much and left feeling more equipped to work effectively with respect to Indigenous culture. Several of the staff shared that the training was some of the best they'd ever had, and we will certainly look forward to having him back. Thank you Jason for sharing with us!

“I first met Jason while I was Co-Chair of Region 2, Child and Family Services Authority and Chair of the Provincial Aboriginal Advisory Committee. If I were to give 3 words that recommend Jason they would be Clarity, Knowledge and Passion.”

“Jason presented a very strong, passionate and comprehensive historical perspective about the experiences and journey of our Indigenous people in Canada. The sharing of his own stories and those of others, brought real issues, both past and current, to the participant’s awareness on a personal, emotional and cognitive level. While the information was at times very unsettling to hear, it is absolutely critical for everyone to make an effort to truly listen. Education and promoting understanding is one of the most powerful strategies to impact change! Jason is a change-maker and absolutely everyone should have access to learn from him!”

Jason’s presentation on Aboriginal Awareness shared more than just an overview of First Nation, Metis and Inuit people. His teaching style invites impromptu questions where Jason offers a holistic approach when working with Aboriginal people. He is willing to work in partnership and provide additional supports long after the session is over. Jason’s interactive session is inspiring to all!

I first met Jason at an Indigenous Awareness workshop he was facilitating in Red Deer. Having participated in other workshops before, I found Jason's presentation style and ability to connect with his audience far above anything I had experienced previously . He was engaging and entertaining while maintaining his focus on the topic. I am currently involved with two different Indigenous Job Entry Programs and had reached out to Jason to come and speak with my students. He adapted his workshop format to empower and uplift my Indigenous students. He was able to reach each of my students in unique ways, speaking about Indigenous war heroes , people who achieved greatness by simply being who they are. Jason spoke about hard work , dedication and the stereotypes that Indigenous populations may face in the workplace. He has a distinct and purposeful way of empowering those he speaks with!
